How to Showcase Your Area Through Your Website

People aren’t staying at your hotel because they want to visit your hotel – it’s because they’re interested in your destination.

So how can you use your website to tap into that desire and use it to get them to book a stay at your hotel?

1. Figure out why guests are coming to your area

Remember that each website visitor has found your site through browsing the web – following a listing that has led to your hotel’s website. This means that your website is only one among many other tabs that they have opened. If your website doesn’t use language and imagery that appeal to them, they’re going to close that tab.

This is why it’s so important to figure out who you’re trying to attract to your hotel. Why is the guest interested in staying in your area in the first place? What type of travelers are they?

2. Use words and images that harness that desire

Once you know what kind of guest you’re trying to attract, it’s time to update your website so that it caters to them.

For example, if your destination is known for being an ideal place for honeymooners, you’d want to make sure your homepage is full of imagery that allows travelers to dream of romance at your property. You can even test out different images and see which ones resulted in more bookings.

You should also make sure each room type is named with this in mind, and your descriptions take into account what they might have done that day. For example, you could say, “After a relaxing day at the beach, you’ll love coming home to The Honeymooners Suite for a soothing bath in our spacious marble bathroom.”

With the Website Builder included in the One platform, updating these images and descriptions is only a few clicks away. Instead of paying a web developer hundreds of dollars for each change (and subsequently waiting for them to update it), all you have to do is login and do it yourself. And if you have the Booking Engine and Channel Manager module integrated, you can easily calculate your total online look-to-book ratio.

3. Dedicate a page to your local area

What could be better for existing and future guests than having a place on your website to go with suggestions of things to do? Sure, there are other sources of information – but you’re the local guide. You actually live there! So why not put your local knowledge to use and give guests the inside scoop on where they should really go?

We bet you’re already having these conversations in person – all you have to do is dedicate a page to your local area on your website, full of suggestions of what to do. Make sure you regularly update it with upcoming events, too. The more you update your website, the more Google thinks you have interesting things to say. This in turn helps you rank well.

The Website Builder in One by DerbySoft allows you to easily create this page and add it to your website’s sitemap, and use the Google Maps integration to show how close your property is to all the action.
